Leadership Development

We help senior business and investment leaders develop the mindset and skills to lead for mutual value creation. From executive residencies to immersive online learning programs and team workshops, we explore how to navigate complexity and drive transformational change.

CASE STUDY

Drahomira Mandikova

  • Drahomira joined our executive leadership program while leading sustainability and purpose integration work at Asahi Europe & International beverages company.

  • The program helped shift her perspective from company-centered thinking toward ecosystem-centered leadership – reframing societal challenges as opportunities for long-term value creation.

  • Drahomria’s learnings influenced the development of Asahi’s “sustainable EBITDA” framework and led to a flagship project focused on tackling loneliness through the hospitality ecosystem in Central Europe.

CASE STUDY

Bill Schafer

  • Our executive leadership program helped Bill embed mutual value creation into the foundations of his electric mobility start-up in Kenya – shaping how Enzi Motors balances commercial growth with affordability, local participation, and long-term community impact.

  • It gave him the methodologies, tools, and community support to apply the mutual value approach in every aspect of the business, from design and engineering to team management, go-to-market strategy, and customer interactions.

Strategic Advisory

We help organizations embed mutual value creation into strategy, decision-making, governance, and culture. Together, we design business models capable of delivering both commercial performance and meaningful outcomes for people and planet.

CASE STUDY

  • We helped Mars Petcare create mutual value by addressing a critical skills and retention gap among veterinary nurses in the US.

  • Two of the segment’s business units - Royal Canin, a premium pet nutrition brand, and Banfield, a nationwide network of veterinary clinics – worked together to deliver a nutrition training program that equipped 1,000 nurses to act as trusted advisors.

  • This improved pet health while increasing job satisfaction by 24%, reducing turnover by 38%, and driving higher sales – resulting in a 17x financial return on investment for Mars Petcare.

CASE STUDY

  • We helped Air Liquide Healthcare create mutual value by tackling type 1 diabetes in Germany.

  • By mapping the full diabetes ecosystem, we uncovered key systemic barriers and enabled the company to develop new strategic options, including integrated care units, data fusion services, and coordinated mental health support.

  • Our work also surfaced unconventional partnership opportunities with stakeholders such as diabetes clinics and helped deprioritize ideas unlikely to scale under regulatory and funding constraints.

CASE STUDY

  • We helped NatWest, a leading national bank, create mutual value by tackling financial exclusion among low-income communities in the UK.

  • By shifting from a traditional focus on financial capability toward a broader understanding of financial wellbeing, NatWest began exploring how banking services, incentives, and customer engagement could better reflect the realities of people’s lives.

  • Through this work, the bank is now developing innovative products and approaches that improve outcomes for customers while unlocking new, scalable opportunities for long-term growth and value creation.

CASE STUDY

  • We helped Asahi Europe & International beverages company create mutual value by addressing loneliness among young adults in Eastern Europe through their legacy beer brand, Kozel.

  • By launching a community platform that connects young people through shared experiences in hospitality venues, Asahi revitalized the brand, increased footfall and revenues for hospitality partners, and strengthened social connection and wellbeing among young adults.

CASE STUDY

  • We helped Enzi Motors, an electric motorbike start-up, create mutual value by addressing costly, polluting, and economically fragile last-mile transport in Kenya.

  • Through a field-based program in Nairobi, we engaged local stakeholders to strengthen Enzi’s business model and uncover key adoption barriers, showing that e-mobility depends as much on trust as technology.

  • The work reinforced Enzi’s ability to help riders
cut fuel costs by over 50%, improve livelihoods through training and affordable ownership, and build cleaner, more inclusive transport systems.

CASE STUDY

  • We helped Mars Snacking create mutual value by addressing limited economic opportunities for young people in rural China.

  • By deploying a new route-to-market model, Mars Snacking equipped over 400 young entrepreneurs to become micro-distributors, extending the company’s last-mile reach across 602 counties in 26 provinces.

  • This created sustainable livelihoods, improved service for nearly 60,000 small-town retailers, and unlocked scalable commercial growth in hard-to-reach markets.

CASE STUDY

  • We helped JLL’s UK leadership team explore mutual value creation opportunities connected to its existing purpose and business model in the real estate industry.

  • This included working with them to identify and research social and environmental challenges where JLL could have the greatest impact, while building their capability to communicate purpose effectively and shift mindsets within the company.

  • We then piloted a purpose-led approach with the team in asset repositioning – an area traditionally driven solely by commercial considerations.

Systemic Action

We help cultivate local economic systems that generate mutual value at scale. Through place-based “Mutual Living Labs,” we bring together the private, non-profit, and public sectors to prototype and scale systemic solutions that work for all stakeholders.

CASE STUDY

Southeast Asia

  • In partnership with SecondMuse Capital, a leading innovation firm, we are helping design and deliver a new Fund to cultivate mutual, locally rooted economies across Southeast Asia.

  • Serving as a catalytic vehicle over 30 months, the Fund will develop three initial Mutual Living Labs in Indonesia focused on commodity backbone economies
in Simeulue, East Kalimantan, and Sulawesi.

  • It will support the landscape custodians and SMEs across the region who are too often structurally under-financed, despite their essential role in sustaining healthy communities, soils, forests, and oceans.

CASE STUDY

Portland, USA

  • In partnership with SecondMuse Capital and a large network of local actors including foundations, government, and businesses, we are building on recent legislative changes to champion a local economy developed around climate justice in Oregon.

  • Significant policy changes in the state have opened up a unique opportunity to reimagine the local economy across four key areas: climate innovation, energy, waste circularity, and forestry.

  • By bringing together local stakeholders, we will be helping to raise a variety of funding options to catalyze innovation and impact across the state.
